We’re smack in the middle of the inaugural Chicago Ideas Week! The week is designed to introduce some of the world’s top speakers and Chicago’s best thinkers to the public through a series of “labs”, “talks”, and “mega-talks”. Needless to say, our intern think-tank was in full force to help prepare for this event! Among other things, RES provided venue management, logistical support, volunteer coordination, and registration assistance. If you had a chance to check out a CIW event, we’d love to hear about it! This year’s Middlewest Fest was a blast! Friday night and all day Saturday, DeKalb welcomed 60+ bands at 7 local venues.

Behind the scenes, Duff Entertainment and RES joined forces with Kickstand Productions to grow this miniature, yet reputable, version of SXSW.  Together we produced a new main/outdoor venue, grew sponsorship sales and vendor participation, and managed event operations. If you made it out to DeKalb this year, let us know what you thought!

2011 headliners included, Murder By Death, Owen, Cornmeal,  Tokyo Police Club and several Chicago acts. Keep an eye on Middlewest Fest, next year will be big.
